How K18 works - the science in plain language
Hair gets its strength from chains of keratin held together by polypeptide and disulfide bonds. Bleach, permanent colour, relaxers, keratin services and heat all break those bonds, which is why damaged hair feels gummy when wet, snaps when dry, and never holds shine for long. K18Peptide (sh-Oligopeptide-78) is small enough to pass through the cuticle into the cortex and reform those broken bonds from the inside. Because it works at the molecular level rather than coating the outside, it does not leave protein build-up, does not need to be rinsed, and works in 4 minutes.
The 4-step K18 routine
- Reset wash: Peptide Prep Detox Shampoo to strip mineral and product build-up that would block the peptide.
- Towel-dry until hair is damp, not dripping - excess water dilutes the formula.
- Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask: 1 pump per 4 inches of hair, comb through mids to ends, wait 4 full minutes. Do not rinse. Do not layer conditioner over it for the first 4-6 treatments.

K18 vs Olaplex - which one do I need?
Both repair bonds, but differently. Olaplex (bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate) re-links broken disulfide bonds and is best used during or immediately after a chemical service (No.0 / No.3 mask, rinsed out). K18 (K18Peptide) reconnects polypeptide chains inside the cortex as a leave-in - 4 minutes, no rinse. Many guests use both - Olaplex No.3 weekly as a pre-wash mask, then K18 Leave-In Mask after washing - but if you want one product, K18 is the faster, no-rinse option that does not add a step in the shower.

How do I use the K18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask?

Can I condition before or after K18?

Does K18 contain protein?

Is K18 colour-safe and keratin-safe?

Does K18 repair split ends?
