About CHI by Farouk Systems
CHI was founded in 1986 by Farouk Shami in Houston, Texas. In 2000 the brand released the first ceramic flat iron and re-set the standard for professional thermal styling. Today CHI tools are recognized across the North American salon channel for ceramic and titanium plate technology, ion-generator finishing and durable two-year warranties.

How to choose your CHI tool
- You want one workhorse flat iron - CHI G2. Dual voltage, fast 40-second heat-up, colour-coded temperature presets for fine, medium and coarse hair.
- You prioritise shine over speed - CHI Onyx Euroshine. The ion generator and extended round-edge plates deliver the glossiest pass and let you straighten and bend in one motion.
- You want to replace your dryer, round brush and curling iron with one tool - CHI LAVA AirGlam Multi Styler. Five attachments handle volumising, beach waves, bouncy blow-outs and concentrated drying at a low 210F air temperature.
Heat-styling best practice
- Wash and condition. Towel-dry to remove excess water.
- Apply a leave-in heat protectant through mid-lengths and ends.
- Rough-dry to about 80 percent dry before reaching for a flat iron.
- Section hair into manageable parts. Work top-down, back-to-front.
- Match temperature to hair type - lower settings for fine or colour-treated hair, higher for coarse or resistant hair.
- One slow pass beats three fast passes. Repeat passes are where damage accumulates.
About the CHI Hair Color Conversion Chart
The CHI Hair Color Conversion Chart is a free professional reference handout for stylists cross-referencing CHI Ionic Permanent Shine and CHI ColorMaster shades against competitor colour systems. It is a printed guideline, not a finished hair-colour product - results always depend on the natural and tinted level of the hair, condition, and the developer chosen.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I buy CHI in Canada?
Eastern Beauty Supply is an authorized Canadian retailer for CHI tools. We stock the CHI G2 flat iron, CHI Onyx Euroshine flat iron and CHI LAVA AirGlam Multi Styler, plus the CHI Hair Color Conversion Chart for stylists.
Is CHI made in the USA?
Yes. CHI is manufactured by Farouk Systems in Houston, Texas. Farouk Systems was one of the few large beauty manufacturers to bring production back to the United States in 2009.
What is the difference between CHI G2 and CHI Onyx Euroshine?
The CHI G2 uses titanium-infused ceramic plates and tops out at 425F with a digital temperature display - it is the everyday workhorse. The CHI Onyx Euroshine uses floating onyx ceramic plates plus an ion generator, reaches 450F and is built for maximum shine and bend-and-straighten styling. Both are dual voltage and carry a two-year warranty.
Does the CHI LAVA AirGlam replace a hair dryer?
Yes for most users. The AirGlam includes a concentrator nozzle attachment driven by a 1300W BLDC motor for swift drying, then swaps to round-brush, oval-brush or air-curling-barrel attachments to style. Note the AirGlam runs at a maximum air temperature of 210F - much gentler than a traditional dryer - and is single-voltage only.
Are CHI flat irons dual voltage?
The CHI G2 and CHI Onyx Euroshine flat irons are both dual voltage, so they are travel-safe worldwide. The CHI LAVA AirGlam Multi Styler is single voltage and is not designed for international travel use.
What hair types can use CHI flat irons?
All hair types. The CHI G2 offers preset temperature ranges colour-coded for fine, medium and coarse hair. The Onyx Euroshine reaches higher temperatures for thick, coarse or resistant hair. Use the lowest temperature that delivers a clean pass.
What warranty comes with CHI tools?
CHI tools at Eastern Beauty Supply ship with the standard Farouk Systems two-year manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
Do you carry CHI Silk Infusion, CHI Keratin or CHI 44 Iron Guard?
Not at this time. Our current CHI assortment is the tools line only - CHI G2, CHI Onyx Euroshine and CHI LAVA AirGlam Multi Styler. If you would like us to re-stock CHI haircare lines such as Silk Infusion, Keratin, Infra or 44 Iron Guard, contact us and we will gauge demand with the distributor.
What is the CHI Hair Color Conversion Chart?
It is a free printed cross-reference for stylists comparing CHI Ionic Permanent Shine and CHI ColorMaster shades against other professional colour systems. It is a reference tool, not a hair-colour product. Colour outcome always depends on the natural or tinted level of the hair, hair condition and the developer used.
How do I look after a ceramic flat iron?
Let the iron cool fully before cleaning. Wipe the plates with a soft microfibre cloth and a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to remove product residue. Never submerge the iron. Store flat with the plates closed. Replace heat-styling tools when the plate coating shows wear - chipped ceramic snags and damages hair.
