Hair Extension Accessories — Buying & How-To Guide
Match the supply to your install type
- Tape-in extensions → Double-Sided Tape (108″ roll) for re-tapes every 6–8 weeks. One roll re-tapes a full head 2–3 times.
- Keratin / fusion bonds → Keratin Bond Remover (Blue, 4oz) when it's time to take them out. Apply at the bond, wait 60 seconds, slide the bead off with pliers.
- Clip-in extensions / DIY wefts → Replacement Clips (sets of 10, brown or black). Sew onto wefts or swap out broken clips on existing sets.
- Install & finishing → Babe Stork Scissors for precision trimming around the install line. Application Brush for clean adhesive application.
How to remove tape-in hair extensions at home
- Section the hair and isolate one tape weft at a time.
- Saturate the tape bond with a tape-in remover or 90%+ isopropyl alcohol. Wait 30–60 seconds for the adhesive to break down.
- Gently slide the wefts apart — never pull. If there's resistance, re-apply remover and wait longer.
- Clean any adhesive residue from your natural hair with a clarifying shampoo before re-installing.
Tip: tape-in remover is solvent-based. Keratin Bond Remover is a different formula — use the right one for the install type.
How to remove keratin bond / fusion extensions
- Apply GBB Keratin Bond Remover (Blue, 4oz) directly onto each keratin bead.
- Wait 30–60 seconds for the keratin to soften.
- Crush the softened bead with removal pliers and slide the extension down the hair shaft.
- Comb out residue with a fine-tooth comb, then clarify-shampoo the hair before any further service.
How long do hair extension supplies last?
- Double-sided tape: 6–8 weeks per install. One 108″ roll = 2–3 full-head re-tapes.
- Keratin bond remover (4oz): enough for 1 full-head removal of fusion/keratin extensions.
- Replacement clips: indefinite — replace only when the snap mechanism wears out (usually 12+ months of regular wear).
- Stork scissors: career-long tool with proper care (keep dry, oil the pivot).
FAQs
Can I dye my hair with tape-in extensions in?
You can tone or gloss with the tape in, but avoid full bleach or developer over 20 vol on the tape band — it can break down the adhesive. Always do a strand test first.
Will tape-in extensions damage my hair?
Properly installed and removed with the right solvent, tape-ins are one of the lowest-damage extension methods. Most damage comes from pulling wefts off without remover or sleeping with wet hair.
What's the difference between tape-in remover and keratin bond remover?
Tape-in remover is alcohol/solvent-based and breaks down acrylic adhesive. Keratin bond remover (like GBB's) is formulated to soften the keratin polymer in fusion bonds. They're not interchangeable.
Do you stock micro-bead / I-tip / nano-ring tools?
Not currently. Our extension-accessory range covers tape-in, keratin/fusion, and clip-in supplies. If you need micro-bead pliers or beads, let us know — we can advise on alternatives.
What brand of extension supplies do you carry?
Primarily GBB (Global Best Beauty) for tape, keratin bond remover, and brushes, plus Babe Hair Extensions stork scissors. Replacement clips are sold unbranded.
Where do you ship from?
