GBB Keratin Bond Remover - what makes it different

GBB's Blue Remover is alcohol-based with no acetone and no oil. That matters for two reasons:

  • No acetone means it does not dry out or strip the natural hair the way nail-style removers do.
  • No oil means it evaporates cleanly - no greasy residue to wash out before the next service, no contamination of fresh bonds or tape if you are re-installing the same day.

It dissolves both keratin/fusion bonds and double-sided tape adhesive, so one bottle covers both install types. Made in Canada.

How to remove tape-in hair extensions

  1. Section the hair and isolate one tape weft at a time.
  2. Saturate the tape bond with GBB Keratin Bond Remover (or 90%+ isopropyl alcohol). Wait 30-60 seconds for the adhesive to break down.
  3. Gently slide the wefts apart - never pull. If there is resistance, re-apply remover and wait longer.
  4. Clean any adhesive residue from your natural hair with a clarifying shampoo before re-installing.

How to remove keratin / fusion bond extensions

  1. Apply GBB Keratin Bond Remover (Blue, 4oz) directly onto each keratin bead.
  2. Wait 30-60 seconds for the keratin to soften.
  3. Crush the softened bead with removal pliers and slide the extension down the hair shaft.
  4. Comb out residue with a fine-tooth comb, then clarify-shampoo the hair before any further service.

Replacement clips - brown vs black

Both sets are silicone-lined snap clips designed to be sewn onto wefts (DIY clip-ins) or swapped onto existing clip-in sets when the snap wears out.

How long do hair extension supplies last?

  • Double-sided tape: 6-8 weeks per install. One 108 inch roll = 2-3 full-head re-tapes.
  • Keratin bond remover (4oz): enough for one full-head removal of fusion or keratin extensions, or several tape re-installs.
  • Replacement clips: indefinite - replace only when the snap mechanism wears out (usually 12+ months of regular wear).
  • Stork scissors: career-long tool with proper care (keep dry, oil the pivot).
  • Glue application brush: reusable - clean immediately after use with the same remover.

FAQs

Can I dye my hair with tape-in extensions in?
You can tone or gloss with the tape in, but avoid full bleach or developer over 20 vol on the tape band - it can break down the adhesive. Always do a strand test first. Permanent colour on the lengths is fine away from the bond.

Will tape-in extensions damage my hair?
Properly installed and removed with the right solvent, tape-ins are one of the lowest-damage extension methods. Most damage comes from pulling wefts off without remover, sleeping with wet hair, or skipping the clarify step after removal.

What is the difference between tape-in remover and keratin bond remover?
Traditional tape-in removers are alcohol or solvent-based to break down acrylic adhesive. Traditional keratin bond removers soften the keratin polymer in fusion bonds. GBB's Blue Remover is formulated to handle both - alcohol-based, no acetone, no oil - so one bottle works for tape and keratin/fusion installs.

Is GBB Keratin Bond Remover safe on the natural hair?
Yes - the formula contains no acetone and no oil, so it evaporates clean and does not strip or coat the hair. Always clarify-shampoo after removal to wash off any softened adhesive.

Can I use the GBB Double-Sided Tape on any brand of tape-in extensions?
Yes - it is universal-fit professional replacement tape. Waterproof and longer-lasting than the strips that ship pre-attached to most tape weft brands. 108 inch roll re-tapes a full head 2-3 times.

Do you stock micro-bead, I-tip, or nano-ring tools?
Not currently. The extension-accessory range covers tape-in, keratin/fusion, and clip-in supplies. If you need micro-bead pliers or beads, contact us - we can advise on alternatives.

What brand of extension supplies do you carry?
Primarily GBB (Global Best Beauty) for tape, keratin bond remover, and application brush, plus Babe Hair Extensions stork scissors. Replacement clips are sold unbranded.

Do you carry the hair extensions themselves (wefts, bundles)?
This collection is accessories only - tape, remover, clips, and tools. Hair wefts are not part of the current catalog.

Are replacement clips easy to sew onto a weft?
Yes - the clips have pre-sewn loop holes along the spine. Use a curved upholstery needle and weft thread (or strong polyester thread). One clip every 1-1.5 inches across the weft is the standard spacing.
